Krol Corlett has once again been entrusted as main contractors to National Museums Liverpool Walker Art Gallery phase II – external refurbishment and restoration works.

This iconic heritage site is home to one of the most important art collections in the country, showcasing world-class paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts from the 13th century to the present day as well as contemporary photography and video.

As a much-loved Gallery, it was important for the venue to remain open for the duration of the works, whilst maintaining safe public access to the venue.

Our works include:

• Repair and replacement of eroded stone balustrades and cornices
• Selective repair (including replacement/ consolidation of corroded stone in parts) and cleaning of stonework, and repointing of parts of elevations
• Installation of handrail sections and access steps on roof for health and safety
• Replacement of timber duck boards to enable safe access at roof level for maintance
• Boring out and expanding existing drainage holes on top of cornice to enable better drainage and prevent water holding and associated damage, and associated new and refixed leadwork
• Repair and partial replacement of corroded metal railings
